I attended this school in the 1960's. I remember the fourth grade classroom very well - I think it was on the second floor in the back. I remember the third grade classroom too - it was in the front of the building. We made rice pictures for Christmas presents in fourth grade and I think my teacher was Mrs. Brown. Did she live in Ames? I remember watching other girls turn cartwheels on the lawn and playing baseball on the ball diamond. It was the first time I'd ever played baseball. Also, I remember playing some kind of game between the school and the blacktop where 2 teams lined up and threw a soccer-type ball and then the other team had to go fetch it. The smarter kids threw the ball in amongst the trees that were growing there then, thinking it would be harder for the other team to fetch the ball out of the trees. There was a bathroom on the third floor, I think, and I was always afraid to go up there. I don't know why - but I DO know that I was NEVER told of a ghost. I would have surely remembered that! I wonder if something happened at the school after I left to cause the hauntings?

My husband and I came for a day tour November 8th. We got a glowing anomaly on third floor, in the auditorium, that moved past our IR camcorder. We captured an evp outside the boiler room, that said, "die, die" Definitely a haunted place! We heard whispers, voices, and banging. We can't wait to come back, and will be staying overnight this spring!

What an amazing place! We cant get enough of it! Have had many experiences there! Hearing foot steps above of, something mimicking the sound of our equipment, the soccer ball getting knocked off the tri pod many times on command, seen a swirling smoke like mist appear out of thin air, caught a shadow figure on the stage...I could go on and on about Farrar schoolhouse! Thank you so much Nancy and Jim for allowing my team and I experience such an amazing building!

I attended Farrar in the mid 70's for 4th - 6th grade. I remember the gym being pretty creepy. I'm glad I was only there in the daylight! Not surprised at all that it''s haunted in some way.

Good morning, Thank you Jim and Nancy for hosting Iowa Paracon on July 19 and 20, 2013. I had a amazing time and gathered some amazing evidence and for the very first time a full body apparition in the auditorium on the third floor. Jim and Nancy you have done a amazing job on preserving that school.

I went to school here in late 80's early 90's. 4th-6th grades. I remember Mrs Martin, she was my homeroom teacher! Lived very close to the school, used to play there with Janitors' kids (1 was in my grade, 1 was 1 yr older) and other kids that lived around there in the summer time. I have so many memories of this place, but never personally saw or heard anything strange.. (wasn't aware of it back then) Would love to take the tour sometime!
